"He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward him for what he has done." (Proverb 19:17)

Jobelle Atienza

B.S. Hotel and Restaurant Management (Graduated in 2012)
College of Immaculate Concepcion, Pandi, Bulacan
Birthday: August 8, 1988

Jobelle has been in PCM since 2007. She is the fourth child in the brood of seven. Her father died in 2010 due to severe kidney problem. Her mother accepts laundry works to earn a living and support her family.

One of the key persons in the PCM Home, Jobelle, is a quiet but a very responsible girl. She is industrious, loving and obedient, and is a great help to her houseparent in looking after the little children. She attends also to their needs such as tutoring, and reminds them to take their vitamins and medicines. She loves to cook and serve her fellow residents with love and a smile. She enjoys playing volleyball with them.

Jobelle was one of the youth leaders in their church, where she was elected as Vice President. She was also a Sunday school teacher and a choir member. She is very thankful to God for PCM, and she trusts the Lord in everything she needs. She wishes to finish her education to help her mother and siblings.

She may not be the typical winner girl, but she has bravely faced the difficulties of her course - thesis, class reporting, organizing events, OJT, and other school requirements. She has proudly finished her Bachelor in Hotel and Restaurant Management from College of Mary Immaculate in 2012. These on top of her duties in the PCM Home - cooking, tutorial of younger children, laundry, etc.

Jobelle did her OJT at Robinson’s Galleria and Garden Plaza Hotel Suites in Manila. Good thing members of the PCM Board had provided accommodations in their houses so Jobelle’s travel time was cut short significantly. No matter how difficult, she did her job excellently and got very high evaluation. No complaining, part of the job, she will say.

“I’m full of amazement. Looking back all those years, who would know I’m one of those that the Lord has chosen to finish college.” She said this because she had already stopped schooling when her father became seriously sick because of liver problem and eventually died while she was in PCM.

After graduation, PCM has supported her for a few more months while she was looking for a job. She was provided help with her application expenses like transportation, government clearances, and preparation of her resume.

“Thanks to all those who have helped me finish. Some of you have supported me even though we’re not relatives,” Jobelle gratefully exclaimed. Someday, when the Lord has blessed her with more, she commits to pay the favor forward and help those in need.

Now she’s learning how to be more a winner with the Lord!
